She Danced the Desert - Detail
This piece is a literal depiction of the bridge between music and art, a marriage of two creative visions. "She Danced the Desert" embodies their passion for music as well as painting. Rhett's Navajo roots, with influences of the four directions and the wind element, represented on the sacred medicine wheel are emphasized. Elyse's identifiable drawing style is depicted in the Native girl holding a skull. Influenced by pop artists such as Lichtenstein and Warhol, she is known for her stylized depiction of the human form. In regards to the mechanics of this piece, it is a U.S.A. made American Standard Telecaster. Some of its features include a bridge with improved bent-steel saddles mounted to a stamped-brass bridge plate for increased resonance and sustain, an American Tele single-coil pickup, a rosewood fret board and maple neck, 22 medium jumbo frets, and pearl dot inlay.
